I went to Juilliard
Synopsis
The ghosts of a dead husband and wife are haunted by an insufferable family who have moved into their home and hired an evil spirit to exorcise them. This is his favorite Michael Keaton movie. When Otto’s shoes are spray painting the walls of the house, he changes from his red fire truck elf shoes to white sneakers as he walks through the bathroom, then back to his red elf shoes. he goes into the rooms of the next room. Adam: What are your qualifications? Beetlejuice: Oh. Well…
I travel quite a lot
I graduated from Harvard Business School. I survived the Black Death and had a pretty good time doing it. I’VE SEEN THE EXORCIST APPROXIMATELY 167 SEVENTY TIMES AND EVERY TIME I WATCH IT GETS FUNNIER… YOU DON’T EXPECT YOU’RE TALKING TO A DEAD GUY… NOW WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? Do you think I’m qualified? A haunting version of Banana Boat (sung by film composer Danny Elfman) is added to the Geffen logo.
A work print of the film has surfaced with several added/alternate scenes
This version of the film is about 2 minutes shorter than the theatrical release, has a few extra scenes and is missing a few others, is in black and white, and has a timecode at the bottom. This version has 4 main differences: Alternate Scene: The scene where Adam tries to leave the house and his wife dies is different. Instead of a desert, he sees an empty darkness full of spinning gears. Additional Scenes: Added a scene where Lydia makes pictures of Adam and Barbra. After her mother yells at her and accuses her of cutting holes in the sheets, Lydia runs upstairs and tries to convince her father that the pictures are real. The scene where the adults are looking for ghosts in the attic is even more so as we see a desert monster trying to eat Adam and Barbra as they hang from the attic window. Finally, there’s another 2-minute scene at the end where we see Lydia riding her bike home from school and her parents talking to Jane, who tells her they don’t want to sell the house.
Adapted from Terror Toons (2002)
Lydia’s dance scene is shorter in this version, and there is no scene with Beetlejuice in the waiting room. The film ends with a final exterior shot of the house. Day-OTraditional, words by William A. Attaway & Irving Burge [Incorrectly listed as written by William A. Attaway & Irving Burgie (as Lord Burgess)] featuring Harry Belafonte courtesy of RCA Records. One of my favorite movies of all time. It’s a Halloween classic.
Scary, funny and very watchable
I am waiting for the moment when I will forget about this movie again and watch it again. Beetlejuice is a creativity stimulator, an inspirational, artistically speaking, movie. Sets, wardrobe, props – everything inspired me as a child and made me fall in love with dark romance, Tim Burton themes.
