Synopsis
In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to shoot an adult film on a rural Texas farm. But when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the crew must fight for their lives. The day after the premiere of “X” (2022) at “South by Southwest,” writer-director Ti West announced that he had written a prequel called “Pearl” (2022) during a mandatory two-week COVID-19 quarantine in his New Zealand hotel before production on that film could begin.
The prequel was released later in 2022
He asked star Mia Goth if she wanted to stay in New Zealand and shoot “Pearl,” and she readily accepted the offer. When Lorraine enters the basement and turns on the light, you can see a modern halogen lightbulb there, which didn’t exist in 1979.. Maxine: I won’t accept a life I don’t deserve..

I can’t like movies where there are just characters running around with no instinct whatsoever doing the absolute dumbest things they can think of before they get murdered. It’s literally the whole movie. The “action and gore” are actually pretty harmless.
