Hello Windows Insiders
We’re excited to announce the release of the first Windows 11 Insider Preview on the Developer Channel! As we finalize the product in the coming months, we’ll work with you to validate the experience. You’ll be able to try out many of the new features we showed off last week in this early preview, but not all. In the coming months, we’ll be adding more features like chat with Microsoft Teams and Android apps in the Microsoft Store as they’re ready for you.
WSR is becoming obsolete
We are just beginning this journey together! Changes and Improvements – – [General] Windows 11 is moving from Windows Speech Recognition (WSR) to voice access. When you open WSR, a dialog will appear asking you to try voice access. They also added a banner under Settings > Accessibility > Voice Like Them.
They recommend that WSR users try and start using voice access today
Voice Access, our new assistive technology in Windows 11, uses your device’s speech recognition to let you control your computer and create text without an Internet connection. It will support multiple languages and custom commands in a future update (these features are now available to Windows Insiders who can try them out in the beta channel as mentioned above). A dialog box that prompts you to test voice access when you open Windows Speech Recognition. – [Nearby Sharing] Introducing the ability to quickly give your device a friendlier name to identify sharing to and from using Nearby Sharing in Settings > System > Nearby Sharing.
For example, “speak faster”, “read the next line”, etc
Give your device a friendlier name to identify sharing to and from nearby sharing. – [Narrator] Narrator users can now use voice access to open apps, dictate text, and interact with on-screen elements using voice. Moderator users can use voice access to issue commands to the Moderator using their voice. To get started, search for “voice access” in Windows search and set it up.
– [Desktops] Made some improvements to help fix an issue where background skipping was seen when switching between desktops
Fixes – – [Task Manager] When creating a dump file for a process, the location of the dump file should now be selectable to copy.
