Synopsis
Set in the utopian Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun, the story follows the origins of two iconic League of Legends champions and the power that will tear them apart. See the actors behind some of your favorite movies and animated series, including Ella Purnell in “Arcane.” Fortiche Productions made a music video called “Get Jinxed” for Riot in 2013. Riot was so impressed with the work that they asked Fortiche to make an animated series, which took them several years to create.

After the release of the first season, Riot announced that there will be a second season and that it will take less time to produce. Arcane tells the story of two young orphaned sisters, growing up and getting into trouble in the dual city of Zaun and Piltover. The series is based on the video game League of Legends, and while it does drop you right into this fictional world, it takes the time and care to set up places and characters in a commendable show-don’t-tell way. Solid character development and world-building mean that it’s a thoroughly fun game to play without knowing anything about the game.
The animation is absolutely exquisite
As an anime fan, I found the animation in Arcane to be far beyond anything I’ve seen in an animated series before. There’s incredible attention to detail. It’s clear that no artistic talent or monetary expense was spared in bringing the world of Runeterra to life.
Great soundtrack, excellent acting, and a compelling story that pulls no punches when it comes to violence and more adult themes
