Synopsis
A unique profile of British pop superstar Robbie Williams
It took a year and a half to get permission to film an extravagant dance sequence on Regent Street in London, as it is owned by the British Royal Family. Two nights before filming was scheduled, Queen Elizabeth II passed away during a week-long rehearsal, and filming had to be postponed. Everyone had to be paid anyway, including shop owners and crew, and production insurance did not cover losses caused by the monarch’s death.
Aired on The 7PM Project: Episode dated 5 December 2024 (2024)
The producers had to raise additional funds to film the episode, which was filmed five months later. I didn’t know what to expect from the film, thinking it would be quite strange to see Robbie as a monkey. In the end, the monkey adds a lot to the film.
Jonno Davies, who plays Robbie, is a great actor
You fall in love with him immediately, and after a few minutes it IS Robbie. Even though you can’t see his face, he certainly knows how to represent him. The story is a story that touches your heart.
I have so much respect for him
It’s not just about Robbie the Popstar, it’s also about his younger years. He dares to be so vulnerable in this film, which has a lot of stories about his personal life, his career and the challenges he had to face. The music and visuals also bring a lot to the film.
The film is a mix of laughter, but definitely tears too
In the end, it left me speechless, teary-eyed, but most of all PROUD of who he is today.
