formed during the making of the film “The Penguin”
Synopsis
After the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, is putting on a show to take over Gotham’s criminal underworld. Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti talk about how they are doing in the criminal underworld. Colin Farrell fought hard to get his version of The Penguin to smoke a cigarette in the film “The Batman” (2022), but it didn’t work out.
The DC Studios logo is on a rainy Gotham alley
However, in his own series, the character is depicted as a casual tobacco user who loves cigars. The umbrella falls and the logo changes to Warner Bros. The Show Graham Norton with guests: Lady Gaga / Demi Moore / Colin Farrell / Richard Ayoade / Jack Savoretti (2024).
The first episode is a direct sequel to Matt Reeves’ Batman and I imagine those who haven’t seen the latter are a bit lost
But I’ve been watching The Batman for a while now, and this show did a great job of introducing me to where the movie left off without getting bogged down in a didactic recap. It also beautifully captures the aesthetic and gritty tone of the film, though the show has a lot more of a sly lightness than the film. As in Batman, Colin Farrell does a great job of portraying the Penguin as a stereotypical mob “street guy”:" misfit, unholy, vivacious, and quick to commit violence; but also smart, cunning, and able to read people.
But so far, it’s a great start
The character may not have anything to do with the comic book version, but he’s interesting in his own right. I have my doubts about the Penguin being shown as a teenager. and I don’t know if the Penguin storyline is enough for a full season.
