Smith, a seasoned rodeo veteran
A Montana farming family faces off against others who are encroaching on their land. Lloyd is played by Forrie J.
It’s basically Mafia Wars in Montana with occasional giant doses of testosterone (cowboys with guns on horseback while fishing)!
John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to “forget” his Montana accent and drifts back into the SoCal voice he usually uses. (Review is for the first two seasons only) I came into this show not expecting to like it, but the story, acting, and cinematography are brilliant.
Costner is a master actor as the Duttons
The show is at its best when it shows the Duttons and their enemies moving a chessboard. The show stagnates in the second season, but picks up steam again midway through.
Thomas Rainwater is also great
Kelsey Asbille is Monica’s weakest link and plays a bad hand badly, the plot slips awkwardly and the acting just misses the scenes where Rip was involved. Just as Cormac McCarthy’s "All the Pretty Horses" was a bit more raw and brutal than the title suggests, this show hits a similar note.
